What is agentic digital asset management (agentic DAM)?

What are Cloudinary Agents?
- Cloudinary Agents are four specialist agents for visual media teams — Taxonomy (metadata structure), Search (intent-based discovery), Moderation (brand and content compliance), and Workflow (plain-language automation) — fronted by a Coordinator Agent that interprets what you asked for and deploys whichever agents the job needs. They became generally available in May 2026 and are built on Cloudinary’s MCP servers.
What is a Claimable Cloud?
- A Claimable Cloud is a real Cloudinary product environment that an AI agent provisions for itself with a single command, receiving working credentials immediately — no signup, no email confirmation, no dashboard visit. It runs on the same production infrastructure that serves Cloudinary’s customers, and the person it was built for claims it later, keeping every asset, preset, and delivery URL the agent already created. It is the centerpiece of Cloudinary’s Agent Experience layer, announced in August 2026.
How is a Claimable Cloud different from a sandbox or free trial?
- A sandbox gives an agent fake credentials and throwaway data, which guarantees a migration later because nothing built there is worth keeping. A trial still requires a human to complete a signup form before the agent can proceed. A Claimable Cloud is neither: the environment is real from the first request, and the hand-off to a human is a change of owner rather than a rebuild.
Can an AI agent create a Cloudinary account without a human?
- Yes, in two ways. A Claimable Cloud returns working credentials immediately and needs no email until someone claims it. Alternatively, an unauthenticated account creation API lets an agent post a user’s email plus a description of itself and receive a cloud name and credentials for a free account with one product environment — credentials that activate once that person verifies the email, so the human keeps control of the account.
What is MCP and why does it matter for agentic DAM?
- The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that lets AI assistants and agents discover and call external tools. For agentic DAM it means the media platform becomes infrastructure other agents can operate — an assistant in an IDE, chat interface, or marketing tool can search, transform, and deliver media directly. Cloudinary brought MCP to the DAM market in June 2025 and exposes five servers over it: asset management, environment config, structured metadata, analysis, and MediaFlows. Its own DAM agents are built on the same servers.
Does agentic DAM remove humans from the process?
- No. It removes humans from repetitive execution, not from judgment. People define intent, set brand and compliance policy, and approve results. Agents handle the labor-intensive steps in between, and every automated action is logged and reviewable.
How does agentic DAM keep assets on-brand and compliant?
- Through guardrails enforced continuously rather than at a final gate. Agents check logo usage, brand standards, licensing windows, and model or property releases throughout the lifecycle, and flag potential violations before anything is published. The faster the system moves, the more consistently these rules are applied.
Is agentic DAM secure?
