The uncomfortable question about any agentic system is what it actually did. Cloudinary answers it with the same reporting surface teams already use to understand their library — search behaviour, asset usage, adoption — now covering automated activity as well as human activity.

Continuous optimization in depth
Most organizations trying to build toward agentic DAM discover the same thing: the AI agent is the easy part. The hard part is the media infrastructure the agent has to call. An agent that can reason about "lifestyle shots cropped for Stories" is useless without a platform that can actually understand images, generate those crops, and deliver them. Cloudinary provides exactly that platform.
Cloudinary’s AI can auto-tag, categorize, and analyze image and video content — the enrichment layer that lets agents retrieve assets by meaning rather than filename. This is the difference between a searchable library and an intelligent one.
Content-aware cropping, background removal, generative fill, and automatic format and quality optimization are core Cloudinary capabilities, delivered on the fly through a URL-based transformation API. An agent can request the exact variant a channel needs and get it instantly, without a manual export.
Because Cloudinary is API-first by design, every operation an agent might need is already a programmable endpoint. There is no UI an agent has to simulate and no bespoke automation layer to maintain — the platform speaks the language agents speak.
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is emerging as the standard way for AI assistants and agents to discover and call external tools. Cloudinary provides MCP servers that expose media operations directly to AI tools — so an assistant in an IDE, a chat interface, or a marketing application can search, transform, and deliver media without custom integration work.
This is what turns a DAM from a destination into infrastructure. Rather than every AI tool needing a bespoke Cloudinary integration, they share one open protocol. It is the clearest signal that Cloudinary is building for an agent-operated future, not just adding AI features to a human-operated product.
It is also the load-bearing detail behind both layers of this story. Cloudinary brought MCP to the DAM market in June 2025; its own DAM agents are built on those same servers, and so is the Agent Experience layer that outside agents use. One protocol, one platform, two directions of control — which is why adopting one layer does not strand you when you want the other.
Agentic DAM is not something you buy fully-formed and switch on. It is something you build on a capable media platform. Cloudinary provides the layers that are hardest to replicate — so teams can focus on the agents and outcomes, not the media plumbing.
